Jackie’s personal statement is below:

“Born and living in Birmingham (West Midlands). I am self taught in painting and drawing. I use mainly watercolour paints and use FaberCastell Polychromos colour pencils for drawing

“I have drawn and painted since the age of five years old, using many pictures from the children’s classic book Black Beauty

“I am always striving for perfection in my pictures of the horse, looking for the smallest detail so as to improve my overall picture of the horse. I am always looking for imaginative photographs, as I mainly use them for inspiration. I find good photographs often show fine detail and can show the horse from different angles

“In the years 1989,1990 and 1992 a few of my watercolours were displayed in the Laing painting competition in the Evening Mail in Birmingham. In 1992 I exhibited in the Birmingham and Midland Art competition

“My main ambition is to be recognised for my work in drawing and painting of the horse, with the ability to show the horse in their work and leisure times. Showing their strengths, nobility and grace in all the horse does
