Ellie Hesse

Ellie Hesse was born in New York in 1972, but spent her happiest moments riding her pony in the Yorkshire Dales. Travel has always been an important feature of her life, exploring Asia and South America, as well as living and working in France and more recently Italy, where the stunning imagery of ancient Rome continues to inspire and nourish the creative process.

The symbolic, mythological and sacred place the horse has held throughout history are undoubtedly Ellie’s primary inspiration in her work, seeking to portray the horse as a divine creature worthy of adoration.

In order to capture the subject’s expression and movement, Ellie employs a variety of media and techniques including, charcoal, inks, acrylic, oil, plaster, collage, gold leaf and resin, always experimenting in order to create new and interesting surface textures.

Ellie has been working as a professional artist since 2001 and her work is on show at a number of galleries and art fairs across the UK and Internationally.
