• Joanne is a professional artist specialising in animal portraiture and original equestrian art
  

• Born in 1983 in South Yorkshire, Joanne was a horse mad youngster and loved to draw her favourite riding school ponies and pets in her spare time. Her first commission to paint a friend’s horse at the age of 14 fuelled her passion for art and gave her confidence in her ability to become a professional artist in the future
  

• A keen rider to this day, Joanne feels her continual experience with animals has allowed her to gain important knowledge about animal structure and behaviour, and appreciate that all animals are individual characters. She aims to capture the individuality of all the animals she portrays, be it a prized pedigree or much loved family mongrel. Although much of her commissioned art is created using photographic reference Joanne enjoys meeting her subjects in the flesh wherever possible so she can get to know them a little better and sketch them from life. Joanne feels her continued hands on experience with animals feeds into her work and gives it a unique quality that cannot be achieved from simply copying a photograph
  

• As well as working to commission Joanne is continually adding to her portfolio of original equestrian and canine art and has a range of originals, prints and cards for sale
